Dive Card
Image At Attersee, you will find yourself in the middle of the alpine diving sports. Apart from a multitude of interesting diving spots, you will also find the required, perfectly-functioning infrastructure. With your Dive Card, you also have the authorization to dive in several nearby mountain lakes. A diving excursion, best combined with a family, hiking, nature and/or cultural adventure at one of these lakes, is definitely worth your while. Several nearby mountain lakes particularly worth seeing are:
ARGE Diving Austria represents the interest of sport divers (eg prevention of diving prohibitions).
  • The ARGE constantly produces up-to-date diving spot information together with the authorities, lake owners, biologists, the fishing industry, etc.
  • The Dive Card is your diving authorization to use a number of lakes, privatelyowned by the Österreichische Bundesforste AG (Austrian National Forests).
  • These lakes include the Vordere Langbathsee, Vorderer Gosausee, Hallstättersee, Erlaufsee, Grundlsee, etc.
  • The ARGE participates in eco-projects regarding diving waters.
  • The ARGE organizes basic and advanced training concerning the specifics of diving accidents for medical staff.
  • The possession of a Dive Card includes a diving accident insurance.

With the purchase of a Dive Card, you will gain authorization to dive in a number of beautiful and adventurous mountain lakes. You also support the continuous efforts of ARGE Diving Austria of enabling organized but free diving in Austria, especially in Attersee.

The Dive Card is valid for 12 months and costs barely more than a day ticket elsewhere.

Vordere Langbathsee: a special natural jewel located at 664 m above sea level, and only 40 km away from Attersee. Recommended: Half-day or whole-day excursion, with the possibility of visiting Gmunden at Traunsee.

Hallstättersee: (508 m above sea level), Distance to Attersee ~ 45 km. Recommended: Whole-day excursion, with the possibility of visiting Vorderer Gosausee.

Vorderer Gosausee: (933 m above sea level), Distance to Attersee ~ 58 km. Recommended: whole-day excursion. A very special experience - diving at the foot of Dachstein (highest mountain in the Salzkammergut). During a diving break, you can take a stroll around the lake, take a small ride with the electric boat, or simply enjoy culinary delights at the “Wirt am See”.

Der Grundlsee: (712 m above sea level), Distance to Attersee ~ 60 km Recommended: Whole-day excursion, also combinable with a visit to Altausseersee (709 m above sea level), Hallstättersee, or Vorderer Gosausee. At the end of Grundlsee, from Gössl, you will be able to reach Toplitzsee in just a few minutes on foot. Due to environmental protection reasons, diving is forbidden here but a boat ride with a visit to Kammersee (origin of the Traun River) is recommended. This is sure to be a special holiday experience. (Caution is advised regarding the return trip, for you must overcome a pass height of 993 m above sea level - deco danger!)

Wolfgangsee: (540 m above sea level), Distance to Attersee ~ 18 km. Recommended: only for a dive or as a whole-day excursion. Wolfgangsee in the area of St. Gilgen offers two extraordinary diving spots.

Mondsee: (540 m above sea level) Distance to Attersee ~ 2 km. Mondsee is usually not as clear as Attersee, and therefore distinctly darker. However, it offers very interesting diving possibilities in the areas of Kreuzstein, Kienbergwand and Harnischwand.
